Left 4 Dead Expansion Pack
Fans of Left 4 Dead will be happy, as Valve has announced that an expansion pack, dubbed the 'Survival Pack', will be releasedThe expansion pack will bring a wealth of new content, including a new multiplayer game mode named Survival, and two entire campaign scenarios for use in Versus mode. So far, it is not known what these will be, nor what the new Survival mode will entail.Perhaps the biggest news of all is the announcement of a Left 4 Dead Source SDK, for PC. This is exactly what it seems; users will be able to build and distribute Left 4 Dead maps, for use by other players or themselves. Gabe Newell, President and Co-Founder of Valve has stated, 'With Half-Life and Counter-Strike, and more recently Team Fortress 2, we've learned that we're no longer making stand-alone games but creating entertainment services. With Left 4 Dead we're extending that tradition by creating additional gameplay and releasing our internal tools to aspiring developers so they may also create and distribute new Left 4 Dead experiences.' Alongside the expansion, a 'Critic's Choice Edition' of Left 4 Dead will be released which will include the new content, for those yet to have purchased Left 4 Dead.

Left 4 Dead’s first expansion pack, L4D Survival Pack, is due out this spring. The expansion features two new versus campaigns and a new game play mode, survival. Survival sounds like it could be really awesome, instead of having to run through millions of zombies you sit in a room and wait for them all to come to you. And try to not die. A few months after the announcement of Left 4 Dead 2, Valve announced a new DLC pack titled Crash Course for Left 4 Dead, which includes a new campaign and more features.The campaign is touted as bridging the gap between No Mercy and Death Toll, the DLC includes a new campaign consisting of two maps and about 30 minutes of gameplay as well as versus maps and a more streamlined Versus experience.

Valve is also preparing Left 4 Dead: Critic's Choice Edition, a special edition that will include the original game and the Survival Pack expansion in one package. It's currently unknown whether the Critic's Choice Edition will be released on the PC, the Xbox 360 or both.Finally, the company has also revealed that the Left 4 Dead Software Development Kit (SDK) will be made available this Spring to owners of L4D on the PC. The SDK will be available for free and will allow PC players to create custom campaigns that they can share with other L4D players.We'll have more soon.
