Dear Martin,Thank you! I am not so good with the technical lingo, but I believe you have concisely rephrased and answered my question. In fact, I have no particularly important reason for asking this question. It was simply a curiosity.What I would REALLY like to know, but, as I understand it, is not possible, is how to use the web interface feature of My Drive to restrict access (aka 'exclude') which files/folders can be accessed from the various devices I have installed it on.
For example, I have many personal files/folders on My Drive that I simply do not want stored on the local drive of my work laptop, etc.I have this same issue with Dropbox, which I 'resolved' by simply creating multiple accounts (one for each device), then sharing only work-related folders from the 'master' account with the relevant devices, such as my office workstation. These extra accounts serve no other purpose than to effectively allow me to exclude personal folders that are in my master account.Happy Holidays!

Choose Which Folders To Sync Google Drive On Two Computers
Google Drive offers its users the choice to choose which folders they want to sync in Google Drive using Google Drive Selective Sync option. After unchecking Desktop and other Folders, click on Choose Folder Link and on the next screen click on the Specific Folder on your computer that you want to Sync with Google Drive. Once the Folder is selected, you can select Photo and Video upload size to Google Drive (see explanation below) and click on the Next button.
